Deputising for King, Crown Prince attends opening of World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh

Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended the opening session of the 2018 World Youth Forum, inaugurated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Sharm El Sheikh, with over 5,000 young men and women from 160 countries in attendance.

On the sidelines of the forum, Crown Prince Al Hussein met a number of young Jordanians participants, who highlighted the sessions they will be attending over the event’s four days.

The forum enables young people to network with key decision makers and global thinkers, and discuss regional and international issues.

This years’ discussions focus on peace, innovation, and development.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, President Sisi welcomed the participants, noting that Egypt and the world reject extremism and terrorism.

Young people from various countries also spoke at the opening ceremony, stressing the need to harness youth’s creative energies and to give them a greater role in sustainable development and decision-making to enable them to effect positive change in their societies.
